アフリカの楽園ザンジバル-Zanzibar the Paradise of Africa-
とにかく海がキレイ！
内陸国のマラウイに住む私は未だにザンジバルで撮った海の写真に癒されています。
I went to Zanzibar the island of Tanzania last August.
The ocean was super duper beautiful like a paradise!
So I still look at those beautiful pictures I tool there since I live in a landlocked country.

We met dolphins while snorkelling and swam with them:)

遠浅のビーチ。
It’s a beach which is shallow for good distance from the shore.
オシェレで美味しいココナッツティラミスがおすすめ。
There is a famous restaurant called The Rock on the ocean,
and their coconut tiramisu was very tasty;)

ここのビーチはローカル感たっぷりで地元の人が沢山いたりサッカーしてたり賑やか。
There were many local people in this beach. Some of them were playing soccer.
白塗りの壁と石畳の街自体が世界遺産になっています。
迷路みたいな街の中を散策するのがとっても楽しかった(^^)
The town of White walls and stone pavements itself is the world heritage.
I enjoyed rumbling this maze like narrow alleys:)
年越しキリマンジャロ登山-ルート編４〜６日目- Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro-Route Da4-6-
ここからは登山後半戦!
《12月31日:4日目-Dec. 31st: Day4》
バランコキャンプ→カランガキャンプ→バラフキャンプ
(Barranco camp to Katanga camp to Barafu camp)
高度(Elevation)：3962m→4572m
距離(Distance)：9km
所要時間(Hiking Time)：8-10時間
高山砂漠(Alpine desert)
ロッククライミングばりの岩場を登るところから始まった4日目。
両手を使って斜面の岩をつかみながら登る。
下を見るのが怖いよーっとなったのはほんの一瞬で、
アドレナリンガンガン出まくってむしろハイテンションに(笑)
The 4th day started climbing a rocky track as like rock climbing.
We used both hands to grip on the rocks of the hillside.
It was just one moment that I got scared looking down,
then I got high because of the adrenaline rush lol.
この高さまでくると植物はほとんど生えておらず本当に砂漠みたい。
At this altitude, there were almost no plants and it really looked like a desert.
4000mを超えたあたりからだいぶ体力的にはきつくなってきて息もすぐ切れるし、
素早い動きができない。私は吐き気に悩まされました。
到着したキャンプサイトではテントの中で寝る準備をするのも一苦労。
トイレに行くのにも息切れ。寒さもピーク。
夕ご飯をチャチャッと済ませ、ピークアッタックに向けて仮眠。
Above 4000m, it got physically challenging.
Started loosing breath easily and couldn’t move quickly.
I especially suffered from nausea.
At the campsite in the tent, it was not easy to get ready for a night and being out of breath just going for a toilet. Top of that, it was super cold.
We had quick dinner and took nap for the peak attack.
《1月1日:5日目-Jan. 1st: Day 5》
バラフキャンプ→頂上→ムウェカキャンプ
(Barafu camp to Summit to Mweka camp
高度(Elevation)：4572m→5896m→3048m
距離(Distance)：5km(登り:Up)、12km(下り:Down)
所要時間(Hiking Time)：7-8時間(登り:Up)、4-6時間(下り:Down)
極寒地帯(Arctic)
キャンプサイトで新年のカウントダウン！
元気なガイド達がワーキャー盛り上がる中、私たちは冷静に年越ししました(笑)
初日の出を見るためにカウントダウンを終えてすぐ出発。
極寒暗闇の中ゆっくり頂上を目指します。
私はキャンプサイトから頂上の半分あたりで高山病がひどくなり、
吐き気でオエオエしながら這ってでも頂上行きたい！って思ってたけれど、
足がふらつき始め、立てなくなり、
ガイドにバラフキャンプまで引きずり降ろしてもらいました…
せめてキャンプサイトで初日の出を！っと思ったのも束の間、
どうにか潜り込んだ寝袋の中で目を覚ました時には外は明るくなってたとさ。
その後みんなが戻ってくるのを待って一緒に下山開始。
We had new year countdown at the campsite.
Guides were energetic and having so much fun.
In contrast to them, we were very quiet due to mountain sickness and nervousness.
To see the sunrise, we departed the campsite as soon as we finished new year countdown. We kept proceeding to the summit in the darkness and extreme cold.
My conditions got worse at almost half way to the summit. I really wanted to go to the top even crawling but i started having dizziness and couldn’t keep standing so one of the guides pull me down to the campsite…
I wanted to see the sunrise at least from the campsite, however, when I opened my eyes in a sleeping bag, it was already blight outside.
I waited at the campsite until my party came down there and start descending with them.
下山はなんと雪の中！高度が下がると雪から雨へ…
引き続きオエオエしながらムウェカキャンプへどうにか到着。
It snowed on the way down. As we go lower, the snow became to the rain… I was still having nausea but made it to the campsite somehow.
《1月2日:6日目-Jan. 2nd: Day6》
ムウェカキャンプ→モシ (Mweka camp to Moshi)
高度(Elevation)：3048m→1646m
距離(Distance)：10km
所要時間(Hiking Time)：3-4時間
熱帯雨林(Rain forest)
遂に登山最終日！
登りはガイドも「ポレポーレ(ゆっくり)」って言ってたのに下の速さったらね！
お昼前にはゲートに到着。
身体は汚いしボロボロだったけどガイドにポーター、コック、
一緒に６日間過ごしたクルーとのお別れが何よりも寂しかった！
最高のクルーのお陰でとっても楽しい登山になりました。アサンテ♡
Final day! Guides were saying ‘Pole pole (slowly)’ on the way up, but they were very fast on the way down!
We got to the gate in the morning. We were dirty and very tired, but more than that, it was so sad to say good bye to all the clew members!
It was memorable and fun hiking because of them. Asante♡
下山したこの日にサファリツアーに向かうという
かなりの強行スケジュールで体力は限界だったけど、
宿に着いて６日間洗えてなかった身体は石鹸で３回くらい洗って
時間をかけてキレイにして、ベッドに入りました(^^)
Me and other members from Malawi headed to Serengeti and Ngorongoro on the same day we came down from the mountain and we felt the limit of our energy,
but when we got to the hotel, we rushed into the shower. I washed my body from head to toe with soap for 3 times to get rid of the dirtiness of 6 days and went into the bed;)
年越しキリマンジャロ登山-ルート編１〜３日目- Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro-Route Day 1-3-
2017→2018の年越しで、アフリカ最高峰のキリマンジャロに登ってきました！
せっかくだから初日の出を頂上で♪っという事で半年くらい前から計画しました。
（高山病で最後の最後に歩けなくなり頂上に行けなかったのはここだけの話 笑。）
I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa from the end of 2017 to the beginning of 2018!
I wanted to see the first sunrise of 2018 at the top, so we started planning for this trip 6 months before we went.
(Actually I couldn’t make it to the top due to mountain sickness…lol)
5泊6日かけてのテント泊登山、
毎日見れる景色が変わってとっても楽しかったのでルートと一緒に紹介します。
We stayed in tents for 5 nights while climbing,
We could see different sceneries everyday and it was so much fun, so I’d like to introduce those sceneries with the route we climbed.
私達が登ったのは「マチャメルート」
The name of the rout was “Machame Route”
登山前半戦！
《12月27日：出発前日-Dec. 27th: The day before departure》
キリマンジャロ空港から麓の街モシ入り。
この日はガイドからルートの説明を受けたり、
持参した装備のチェックをしてもらったり、
足りない装備のレンタルをしたり。
（実は午前中にモシに着いたのでコーヒーツアーに行って、登山前日にハイキングを楽しんで若干の筋肉痛でキリマンジャロに挑みました 笑)
We got to Kilimanjaro International Airport and stayed in the town located in the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro called Moshi.
We met guides and they explained the route, checked our equipments, and helped us to rent equipments.
(We got to Moshi in the morning so we had coffee tour and hiked to the waterfall before climbing Kilimanjaro. So we already had some muscle ache before start climbing…lol)
《12月28日:1日目-Dec. 28th: Day1》
マチャメゲート→マチャメキャンプ(Machame gate to Machame camp)
高度(Elevation)：1646m→2865m
距離(Distance)：11km
所要時間(Hiking time)：5-7時間
熱帯雨林(Rain forest)
ジャングルの中を冒険してるみたいでワクワク止まず！
そんなに傾斜もきつくなく,みんなでお喋りしながら歩いたらあっという間。
天気も良くて半袖でも汗かくくらい。
でもキャンプサイトに着いて日が暮れると寒かったー！
It was like exploring in a jungle and very exciting! The slope was not that steep and we could talk all the way while hiking. The whether was nice and hot to sweat, but once it got dark when we reached the campsite, it got cold.
《12月29日:2日目-Dec. 29th: Day2》
マチャメキャンプ→シラキャンプ(Machame camp to Shira camp)
高度(Elevation)：2865m→3810m
距離(Distance)：5km
所要時間(Hiking Time)：4-6時間
荒野(Moorland)
この日は傾斜のきつい登りが多いため時間は短め。
The climbing time was a little short because of many steep slopes.
生い茂ってた草木の背がどんどん低くなって視界もひらけ、
上から眺める景色が増えた。
The highs of plants got shorter and shorter as we climb up and the view opened up. We could see more sceneries from above.
《12月30日:3日目-Dec. 30th: Day3》
シラキャンプ→ラヴァタワー→バランコキャンプ
(Shira camp to Lava tower to Barranco camp)
高度(Elevation)：2865m→3962m
距離(Distance)：10km
所要時間(Hiking Time)：6-8時間
半砂漠地帯(Semi desert)
3日目は高度順応の日。
登って降りて前日とほとんど変わらない高度の場所で1泊。
The 3rd day was adaptation day for the altitude.
We went up and down to the almost same altitude of the day before to stay a night.
パイナップルみたいな高山植物がたくさん！
There were so many alpine plants looked like pineapples!
夕方からは雲も晴れて、
バランコキャンプからはキリマンジャロの頂上が綺麗に見えました！
The sky cleared up in the evening and we could see the top of the mountain from the campsite clearly.
丁度満月だったため夜は月明かりに照らされるキリマンジャロも拝めました(^^)
Also, it was a full moon night and we were able to see the summit in the moonlight:)
アメリカシックになる季節- It's the Time I Get Americasick-
8年住んだ第2の故郷アメリカ。
I call America my 2nd home since I lived there for 8 years.
アメリカを離れてからというもの
毎年この季節になると
アメリカが恋しくてたまらなくなる。
This time of the year makes me miss America so much since I left there 5 years ago.
ハロウィンからサンクスギビング、
そしてクリスマスにかけて。
町中が賑やかで、
キラキラして、
家族の愛で溢れる時期。
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas...
It sparkles everywhere,
And it's filled with so much happiness and love.
どのイベントも同じくらい好きだけど、
でもやっぱり、一番はクリスマス！
っということで、
アメリカのクリスマスシーズンに
訪れてもらいたい3つの場所を紹介します(^^)
I love every each one of those holidays,
BUT especially Christmas!
So, I'd like to introduce 3 of my favorite places to visit in Christmas season in the US.
1)ニューヨークのロックフェラーセンター

アメリカのクリスマスといえば！
ホームアロンをはじめ、色んな映画に出てくるここ。
Typical but this is the American Christmas to me!
2)フロリダのディズニーワールド
Disney World in Orlando, FL
オススメはハリウッドスタジオのオズボーンファミリーライト!
I wanted to recommend Osborne Family Lights in Disney's Hollywood Studio
…だったのですが、
残念な事にこのイベントは2015年で終了したそうです(´･_･`)
...however,
they called this event off in 2015:(
でも、ホリデーシーズンのディズニーワールドはどのパークにもツリーが飾られて、特別なイベントも沢山やっているのでやっぱりオススメです(^^)この季節だと可愛いクリスマスオーナメントも沢山売ってます！
But still, holiday season at Disney world is special! Christmas decorations are everywhere, they have special events... So I still want to recommend;) They sell many cute Christmas ornaments there!
3)テネシーのゲイロードオプリーランドリゾート
Gaylord Oprayland Resort in Nashville, TN
テネシー州のナシュビルというめちゃくちゃマイナーな場所ですが、建物の中も外もクリスマスで溢れてる！
Yeah it's in TN and maybe you would go hun? but it's spectacular inside and outside! It's a place full of Christmas:)
有名なアーティストのライブとかもやったりしてるので合わせていくといいかも。ちなみにナシュビルはカントリーミュージックの聖地です。
They have convention center and hold concerts too. Nashville is the sacred place for country music.
あぁ。。。
更にアメリカに帰りたくなっちゃった(笑)

This is just making me miss America more and more!
家族ができたら毎年ツリーをデコレーションして、その下にプレゼント並べて、クリスマスの朝にみんなでオープン！するのが夢です(^^)
Once I have my own family, I'll decorate Christmas tree and put presents underneath, and open them on Christmas morning every year! It's one of my dream:)
アフリカのたくましさの象徴 -Symbols of African Sturdiness-
アフリカといえば…
灼熱の太陽と赤土の大地を思い浮かべませんか？
そんな土地にも花が咲き乱れる時期があります。

But we have a blooming season of in such land.

満開になるのは雨季が始まる前。
つまり乾季の中でも乾ききった時期。
乾いた大地に色鮮やかに咲き誇るジャカランダと火炎樹をみると
たくましさを感じずにはいられません。
They fully bloom right before the rainy season
Which means that they bloom in the driest time of the dry season.
Every time I see fully bloomed colorful jacaranda and flame tree on this dry land,
I just can't resist sensing the sturdiness of Africa.
ちなみに花言葉は

火炎樹→臆病な愛、内気、同情、柔和、私は恋を疑う、しめやかな愛、永遠、気品
だそうです。

今年は例年より雨季の訪れが早かったようで
マラウイ人は急ピッチでトウモロコシの栽培準備で大忙しのようでした。
最近は毎日のように雨が降っていて本格的に雨季に突入したようです！
Rainy season started a bit earlier than usual
So all Malawians got busy preparing to cultivate maize.
It's been raining almost everyday, so I guess rainy season has officially started!

命のリミット。
ナースとして働いていると、
そして特にここマラウイだと、
常に身近に感じることだけど、
こんな事が起こるなんてこれっぽっちも思ってなかった。
The life is limited.
As a nurse and especially here in Malawi,
I feel this everyday.
But I never expected this was coming.
先日、突然20年来の親友がこの世を去っていきました。
My best friend for over 20 years just past away.
去年、私がマラウイに旅立つ時に
「必ずまた会おう！」てメッセージくれてて、
きっと私の命を心配してくれてた
そんな彼女の方がこの世からいなくなっちゃうなて…
She gave me this bouquet last year when I left my home town for Malawi,
And the message said "Promise to see each other again"
I knew that she worried my safety
But it was her who's gone now...
9歳で出会って今まで、
放課後のバドミントンやアイスクリーム、
夏休みの宿題とお供のカップラーメン,
中学ではチームメイト、高校では対戦相手だったバレー部も、
成人式も、同窓会も、友達の結婚式も、
一緒に旅したアメリカと台湾…
思い出のどこかにいつも必ずいてくれた。
近くにいる時も離れてる時もあったし、
仲良い時もそこまででもない時もありながら、
気付いたら22年経って、
地元に帰ればそこにいて、
会いたいって思えばいつでも会えたし、
これからもずっとそうなんだって思ってたのに。
We met when we were 9,
And we spent so much time together.
After school badminton with ice cream,
summer vacation homework with ramen noodle,
Played volleyball as team mates in junior high and as opponent team in high school.
Coming of age ceremony, reunions, friends' weddings,
traveling to America and Taiwan...
She was always a part of my memories.
There were times we stayed close or away.
It has been 22 years,
She was always there and I could see her whenever I wanted to,
And I believed that it will be like this forever.
なんで、どうして、信じられない、
早すぎるよ。
まだまだこれからだって楽しい時間を
一緒に過ごしたかった。
Why... How can this happen...
Can't believe it... She was too young...
I really really wanted to share happy moments of our lives more and more.
命が消えるのはいつも突然で
それはよく分かっていることのはずなのに、
普通に生活していると明日はまた当たり前にくるものだって思ってしまってる。
明日でいいや、
次でいいやって先延ばしにしていたら
永遠にそのチャンスはやってこないかもしれない。
Life never gives head up and disappears,
And I've known it well.
However, in those normal daily life, we believe that tomorrow comes for sure.
If we wait for tomorrow or next time,
The chance might never comes.
だから大切な人にはこまめに想いを伝えて、
会いたい人には会いにいって、
行きたい場所には足を運んで、
やりたい事はいつかじゃなくて
今やらなきゃいけないんだよね。
So,
we should tell our loved ones how much we love them often,
Go and see people who we want to see in person,
Visit the places we dreamed to be,
Do what we want to do TODAY not someday.
彼女が命を懸けておくりだした小さな命が
無事に大きくなりますように。
I hope the little life she brought to the world at the risk of her life will thrive well.
