夢で終わらせない-Never Give Up on My Dream

2011年の冬は、身も心も凍えていた。
アメリカの大学を卒業し、
看護免許の試験にも合格。
晴れてナースになれたというのに、
リーマンショックで打撃を受けていたアメリカは就職氷河期。アメリカ人でさえ職がないというのに、外国人の私になんて仕事はあるんだろうか？100以上のポジションにエントリーするも返ってくるのは” I’m sorry...”というメールばかり。面接にすら辿り着けない。
今までの私の死ぬ気の努力って？
やっぱりナースに向いてないのかな？
アメリカで働く実力なんてないってこと？
って心がどんどん荒んでいってた。

My heart was frozen in the winter of 2011.

Finally graduated from the university, passed NCLEX, and became RN, however, it was super hard to find a job in the US at that time. Due to the Lehman shock, even my American friends were having difficulty finding a job. I applied more than 100 positions but all I got was emails saying ‘I’m sorry...’. Couldn’t even get a chance for interviews...

What were all my efforts for?

Maybe nursing is not for me?

I’m not good enough to work in the US?

...yeah, I was I in a dark hole.

遊びに行くお金もなく家で悶々としていた時にふと目に入ったツイート、“夫婦で世界一周”。

I had no money to go out so stayed home, then found this on Twitter...”Couple on the around the world honeymoon”.

世界一周なんて壮大でお金がかかって自分には程遠いものだと思ってたけど、仲良し夫婦が2人で綴る世界一周ブログに釘付けになった。
でもその頃は「いつかやりたい私の夢」で、
その状態が変わることはなかなかなくて、
叶えられるといいなぁ…っで止まってた。

I just assumed that the around the world trip was too big and expensive for me, but I couldn’t take my eyes off from their blog. Since then it has been one of my dream, it never changed, but it has been just a dream for long time.

そう、そんな私が遂に…遂に！
世界一周の旅をスタートしました！
やりたいなぁ…っで終わらせるんじゃなくて、
今やれそう！っていう時に行動に移す事が大切だって協力隊としてマラウイで活動した2年間で学んだ。それに、これをやり終えないと次にやりたい事へもすすめない。

But...!

Finally I started my dream trip of the around the world! Last 2 years of life in Malawi taught me that not speculating but just doing is important. Also, I don’t think I can go forward to next phase of my life unless I finish my dream trip.

行きたかったけど

なかなか行けなかった場所たちに…

To all those places where I’ve wanted to go for long time...

体力が必要で

身軽なうちにしか行けなさそうな国々に…

To those countries which seems to require physical strength and freedoms...

南米、アフリカ、中東。。。

South America, Africa, Midlle East...

そうやってプランしてたら世界一周する事になってました。スタートを切ってしまえば、あとはワクワクと心踊る方にひたすら向かえばいいんだよね。

When I finished listing, my trip became the around the world. Once I start, I just need to follow my heart, right?
